Based in Idaho Falls and Ammon, ID, Discover Massage is catered to those who wish to receive massage therapy in the comfort of their home.
Whatever the reason, be it health, comfort, or time, your massage will come to you.
Visits can be made to your own homes or apartments, a friends place, or your vacation rental. If you live in any specialized housing (i.e. Gated community, Assisted Living Home, group home, etc.), or are scheduling for your business, please speak to your property management about regulations regarding a visit of this nature.
In your location of choice, please ensure furniture and other obstacles are moved to allow space for the massage table and movement around it during the session. A room that provides a relaxing environment is preferable.
The goal for any massage work space is to provide an environment where you can relax. If you are comfortable you will more thoroughly benefit from your treatment. Living rooms are a common space used, but an at home office or a spare bed room may be used, provided it allows space for the table. This is your massage, prepare a space that makes you feel comfortable and safe.
In addition to table set up, please provide a space for the Therapist to wash their hands and prepare.
In Massage Therapy, the client is typically undressed and covered or "draped" under a sheet and a blanket. It is not required to be undressed for a massage. You may keep clothes on, partially undress, or fully undress, whatever makes you most comfortable.
Your safety and integrity are of the utmost importance. If you don't feel safe or comfortable, you wont be able to relax and the massage experience will be of no benefit to you. The majority of work will be done on undraped parts of the body, though there are times your therapist may work through the drape based on needs and upon request.
The purpose of the drape is to maintain modesty, professionalism, and comfort. When working on the client, the massage therapist undrapes the area of the body that will be worked. This is done carefully so as to not accidentally expose parts of the body not being worked. The drapes are then tucked and secured to create a barrier, demonstrating to both client and therapist the expectation of where the therapist will be working. When the therapist is ready to move on, they carefully untuck the sheet and re-drape the portion of the body that was worked.
Be aware that not at any given time will these parts of the body be undraped or worked: Breasts, genitalia, gluteal cleft (anus). There will be times when areas of the body, with your consent, are undraped and worked, such as your pectoral region, gluteal region, and hip adductors (inner thigh). When work has been requested on these regions of the body, the draping protocol is the same. The drape will uncover only what is being worked, be tucked and secured, and preserve the modesty and integrity of the client and therapist.
Ultimately, it is up to the client as to how undressed they get for the massage. Undress to your comfort level. If you wish to leave underwear on of any sort, feel free to do so. If wearing clothes is preferred, please where tight fitting clothing as loose clothing may be more difficult to work through. The massage therapist will do their best to provide the best experience possible given whatever amount of clothing is worn by the client.
No, you do not have to get completely undressed. Undress to your comfort level.
Yes, as long as you are okay with it. If you are more comfortable having a friend or family member present, you are more than welcome to invite them. If you weren't able to get a baby sitter and the kids are home, that is okay too. This is your massage, and accommodations will be made to help you feel more comfortable or available for massage.
There are a variety of modalities used for massage therapy, but they are not the only way to customize your treatment. Need more time spent working on your legs? Would like upper body work only? Really want to focus on trigger point work? These are things you can ask your Therapist to include. If you are unsure of what you need, you can talk with your massage therapist about what you hope from your treatment and they can help to provide a variety of work to meet those needs.
